Coaxial Cable Crimping

In this post, I will show you how to crimp Coaxial cable using an RG6 cable or RG6 Connector to connect Satellite or Cable TV.

Coaxial Cable or Coax Cable

Coaxial cable is used to transmit radio frequency signals between transmitter & receivers. For example, RG6 cables are used to transmit signals from satellite to TV receiver.

In the below image, you can see how the coaxial cables are composed

  1. Center Conductor - Copper-plated steel wire for TV operation
  2. Dielectric - Insulator surrounding the inner conductor used to maintain distance between conductor & shields
  3. Foil Shield - To protect from RFI interference and signal loss
  4. Braided Shield - To protect the signal from EMI and signal degradation
  5. Outer Jacket - To protect the cables

First, strip the coaxial cable as shown in the below image using a coaxial stripper. Affiliate links to the tools will be shared at the bottom of the page.

Install the RG6 connector into the coaxial cable.

Using a coaxial crimper, crimp the connector.

Finally, trim any excess center conductor to complete your cable.
